I've sold my car. Can I keep my plates?

You sure can! Fill out a Remove and/or Attach form and lodge it at your local Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centre or Agency to officially remove the plates from your vehicle. Keep your plates at home in a safe place, or attach them to another vehicle whenever you’re ready.

For a small fee, you can get new standard issue plates to sell with your registered vehicle.
